Also speaking will be Bay Area (San Carlos) and Orange County (Aliso Viejo) City Councilmen Matt Grocott and Mike Munzing. These elected officials will provide real insights as to how local government has been overwhelmed by federal pressure to accept Regional controls.

Click here to Oppose the One Bay Area Plan.

We are fighting to stop the worst regional plan in the United States here in the SF Bay Area, and its impacts will be felt all across the nation. We believe it will be the template for the rest of the country if it goes through unchallenged.

Unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats are dictating local policy wihtout your vote, they are making decisions on a regional level and steam rolling local control.

Danville Town Council: Withdraw from ABAG and reject the One Bay Area Plan

Residents of all political viewpoints, (including Independents, Republicans and Democrats) have come together in agreement that the current draft plan needs to be drastically changed. There is increasing consensus that the current plan will hurt the town and its residents.

Here's an excerpt:
The story of the Common Core Standards has been one of disdain for the American People. The federal government and private organizations have imposet the Standards on the states.  They have done so in a manner that denied the people and their elected legislators a meaningful chance to review the Standards and to consider the implecations of participation in the Common Core Standards system, including assesments and data collection.

Staff will present public comment on Draft Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR), and seek direction on options to respond to comments

This is the IDEAL place for us to gather 300 people from our various organizations and put them directly on the doorstep of ABAG/MTC headquarters.

Many news organizations are within a short distance of the HQ. If we leverage our activist and concerned citizen, as well as press contacts, we could dramatically increase exposure – not just to a few thousand Marin residents, but to hundreds of thousands of Bay Area residents who have no idea how their lives are about to be impacted.

Many of us are more comfortable with parts of the opposition message, and others are better suited to handle other pieces.

The important thing about this strategy is that it crosses political, cultural, geographic and socioeconomic boundaries. We need to have a tight message as Sally pointed out, but we need to assign specific messengers to specific parts of the message to maximize effectiveness.

Heather Gass urges the Removal of United Nations Definitions from Danville's town plan

FAIRFIELD-SUISUN, CALIFORNIA

VALLEJO The Plan Bay Area roadshow came Monday to Solano County and got mixed reviews, with most of the people who spoke during a hearing voicing criticisms.
Plan Bay Area is a proposal by the Association of Bay Area Governments and Metropolitan Transportation Commission on how the Bay Area should grow through 2040. It stresses the development of compact, pedestrian-friendly communities near mass transit hubs, as opposed to traditional suburban subdivisions on the region’s fringes. Read more...

Vacaville Town Hall Meeting

Plan Bay Area

March 3, 2013
The Dark Side of Sustainbility
People from Vacaville, Fairfield, Dixon and other local communities came together to learn about and discuss the One Bay Area master plan. At first glance, an overarching master plan for the nine Bay Area counties, including Solano County, with unelected leaders and run by bureaucrats with direction from ICLEI, Agenda 21 and the United Nations might seem like the plan for utopia, some citizens and local leaders would rather have direction from the local people and decision-making authority at the local level.

Heather Gass, who has seen the impact of this master plan in her nearby community of Danville, spoke on the One Bay Area plan. She has more info at her website CitizensTownHall.org Also speaking were local concerned citizens, Gary Rannefeld and Mark Ackerman. Some local elected officials were in attendance and the citizens appreciated their desire to learn about this master plan.

In reality, the plan promotes and subsidizes massive, unsustainable growth for our region's 101 towns. We think most residents do not want this and will not benefit from it. Read more...

Action Report: Priority Conservation Area (PCA) Meeting, Oakland, Ca, 5/23/2013

Watch the video below to see a small group of citizens ask the tough questions!

  • The One Bay Area PCA meeting was filmed. If you have been in the fight against regionalism you should watch this video.
  • The One Bay Area plan has two components; PDAs (Priority Development Areas) and PCAs (Priority Conservation Areas). The PDAs are the areas within the existing Urban Growth Boundaries where they will be building Stack and Pack housing.
  • All other areas will be targeted for conservation! The PCAs are the first areas that will be targeted. This meeting was filled with stakeholders, public agencies planners, land trusts, etc. All waiting to make deals. MTC will be working with the SCC (State Coastal Conservancy) to dole out $10million of our Tax Payer Transportation funds to UNelected UNaccountable groups (like Greenbelt Alliance, Sierra Club) etc.
  • These agencies will then target private property owners into signing conservation easements. The easement holders will be in control of the land. Not the land owner. The beneficiary of the carbon credit windfall will be the easement holder (land trusts). These easements will have completely different management plans depending on who holds the easement.
  • The end goal is to form the California Essential Habitat Corridor System, which will create a wildlife corridor system throughout Ca. CalTrans and DOT are the fed and state agencies that are also involved. The ONLY way MTC is getting away with spending transportation funds on conservation instead of highways is because they are going to find “Conservation” projects that need some type of transportation related infrastructure and then they can divert funds to these projects.
  • This is NOTHING about conservation. This is about diverting funds from roads to pet projects with special interest groups.
  • The Williamson Act is being phased out so that conservation easements and multi-level unaccountable bureaucracies can take over land righ

Town of Danville adopts International principles from UN in their 2030 General Plan!

Last night the town of Danville voted to adopt their 2030 General Plan, EIR (Environmental Impact Report) and optional SAP (Sustainable Action Plan). With a crowd of over 250+ voicing their concerns the meeting went into the wee hours of the night. The council made substantial changes to the plan. Many of these changes were debated and discussed with council during the hearing and should have led to a new public notice of the plan changes prior to a vote, but instead the town ended the meeting by unanimously voting to adopt all three documents setting the town on a new course for the next 17 years. The most disturbing part of this is that the City Council has set the small town of Danville on a path following international principles and ideology by the United Nations, but refused to acknowledge and disclose that fact to the public at the meeting or in the planning documents.

The word “Sustainable” appears 158 times throughout the Danville’s Plan and SAP to describe everything from business, water, air, housing and more. The entire foundation of the plan and direction of the town is dependent on the exact meaning and understanding of this term by those reading the plan. After all general plans are meant to provide clear, concise and easy to understand information to the public. So a precise definition and understanding of the word Sustainable would seem obvious and necessary.  Read more...

DANVILLE -- The Town Council took a conciliatory tone Tuesday night in front of a crowd of about 300 people, most staunchly opposed to proposed zoning changes in the Danville 2030 general plan.

Public testimony continued until late into the night before an overflow crowd that lined the walls and flowed into the lobby of the Danville Community Center.

Large, vociferous crowds had shown up at five previous Planning Commission hearings on the subject since November, but the crowd Tuesday was one of the biggest ever to attend a Danville council meeting.

Summerville Homes Planning Commission Hearing

May 14th is the next and likely final Planning Commission hearing on the SummerHill Homes proposal for Magee Ranch - Measure S

The next and likely FINAL Danville Planning Commission hearing on the 69+ SummerHill Homes proposal for Magee Ranch will be Tuesday, May 14th, 7:30, at the Danville Community Center (in front of the Library). The Town staff continues to deny the public's Measure S right to vote on the proposal should the Town Council approve it.Please come to show the Planning Commissioners that you value your right to decide!

Also, Heather will try to attend and speak at “For the good of the town” asking for them to request the Council Agendize a vote to get out of ABAG. If anyone else would ask them to do the same that would be great.

April 23rd Planning Commission hearing on the SummerHill Homes project and revised DEIR.  Despite repeated requests for a 30-day public review period for the revised DEIR (the first request was made at the last GP hearing on March 19th), the Town is allowing us a mere 10-day review prior to the hearing.

As you know, we believe that Measure S, passed by 75% of Danville voters in the 2000 election, requires a public vote on the SummerHill project should the Town Council approve it.

The Town steadfastly maintains that no such vote is required, however. That the Town would block the right of the voters to decide on an environmentally appalling 64+-home development on land planned for Agricultural and General Open Space use is outrageous and one more example of its failure to represent the public's interest.

Danville City Council Meeting
March 5th 7:30 pm
The Danville City Council was packed and overflowing last night.  People were lining the walls and sitting on the floor. The pitchforks were at the ready. The issues people were concerned with ranged from….
Local Control – urging the town to get out of ABAG,  Challenge/Reduce RHNA (Regional Housing Needs Allocations), remove the PDA (Priority Development Area) from the town, remove the SCS (Sustainable Community Strategy aka One Bay Area) language from the 2030 plan, EIR (Environmental Impact Report) and SAP (Sustainable Action Plan), remove the SAP altogether, uphold a Measure S vote on Agricultural land when it is scheduled to be rezoned and upzoning of HOS (High Opportunity Sites) for high density low income housing.
The tension was palpable at the beginning. The town council tried to stack the deck by bringing out 9 people to speak up for the plan and for the low income housing, but before they spoke Pam F. addressed the council at the public comment period.
